LATERS is a surf film documenting off-grid travel in a search for empty waves. Created out of passion by myself and good friend Sam Scholes, the film is set to premiere at the 2025 Bilbao Surf Film Festival in Spain and continue on the international festival circuit through the year.
For the film, I was solely in charge of editing, animation, poster design and an original soundtrack as well as sharing the cinematography 50/50 with Sam.

To me, surfing is a gateway to a deep connection with nature, places and people. This is the story I wanted to tell through the cinematography.
A strong focus was placed on interesting angles that showcased the beauty of the wave and the ocean beyond the surfer, as well as portraits and landscape shots that further brought the viewer into the deeper storyline and message.

I developed a series of hand-drawn animations to add a cohesive style and clear break points to the film. The symbolism in each animation is inspired by the environment and story of that chapter.
The poster series was developed as a limited run intended exclusively for print, a companion piece to the film.
I drew inspiration from 70’s surf movie posters, using a mix of digital and hand drawn methods to create a base design. I then hand-carved the entire design onto a wood block, hand-printed and scanned to create the final poster series.
